Welcome to Holiday Cape Verde

Residence Costa Do Sol Stunning white sand beaches - Boa Vista

Our holiday apartment, Residence Costa Do Sol is located on the Isle of Boa Vista, 1 of the 10 Isles of Cape Verde.

The Cape Verde Islands, discovered by Italian and Portuguese navigators around 1456 are situated off the West Coast of Africa. They boast unspoilt fine white sand beaches, beautiful scenery and a unique blend of African, Portuguese and Brazilian cultures.

Boa Vista is the closest of these Islands to the African Mainland and is accessible via its International Airport ( Boa Vista International Airport ). It has a stunning 55km beach, perfect for long walks and sun-worshiping! The coastal areas offer a range of activities for water enthusiast, including surfing, driving and fishing. Nightlife on the island is quiet, with a scattering of restaurants and bars, ideal for those who dream of the most relaxing of holidays.

During the months June to September, the southern beaches of the island have the 3rd most important Loggerhead Turtle nesting sites in the world.

Boa Vista's interior is a volcanic, rust coloured lunar landscape, punctuated by green date palms and chimneys from the old ceramic factories, an example being the Praia da Chaves factory, covered in sand with its old machines still in situ! For some fun, why not try a quad biking tour.

cape verde currency

The currency in Cape Verde is the escudo expressed as $ or CV.

Euros are widely accepted and we would recommend that you take Euros in place of Sterling. Travellers cheques can be changed on some islands but the charges are high.

ATM machines can be found at the major banks in most island capitals, but do not accept Mastercard, Maestro or Switch. These will dispense CV Escudos however we recommend that you do not rely solely on these. Banks are usually open Monday to Friday 0800 - 1500.
